What this trial studies

This project aims to create a new orthosis for the wrist and hand using 3D printing technology to improve healing and rehabilitation for various wrist and hand injuries. The focus will be on conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and droopy hand, with an emphasis on designing an orthosis that is comfortable, cost-effective, and easy to manufacture. The study will involve identifying the best methods for digital impressions and conducting both technical and clinical trials to evaluate the orthosis's effectiveness.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 70 with conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, de Quervain's tenosynovitis, or ulnar nerve damage.

Not a fit: Patients with spasticity, paralysis, or insensitivity in the upper limbs may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this orthosis could significantly enhance recovery and comfort for patients with wrist and hand injuries.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using 3D printing for orthoses is gaining traction, the specific application in this study is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
