What this trial studies
This observational study aims to establish the optimal cut-off value for diagnosing hirsutism using the modified Ferriman-Gallwey (mFG) scale among Polish women diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It will also assess the correlation between the severity of hirsutism and androgenetic alopecia using the Ludwig scale. Participants will undergo visual assessments to evaluate the severity of both conditions, focusing on women aged 18-45 with oligoovulation. The study is conducted at the University Hospital in Krakow.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18-45 with a diagnosis of PCOS and oligoovulation.
Not a fit: Patients outside the age range of 18-45 or without a diagnosis of PCOS may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a standardized diagnostic criterion for hirsutism, improving treatment approaches for women with PCOS.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored hirsutism and androgenetic alopecia, this specific approach to establish cut-off values in the Polish population is novel.
