What this trial studies
This study aims to develop a standardized screening protocol to detect pleuropulmonary manifestations in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It will involve comprehensive clinical evaluations, laboratory tests, and lung function assessments, all correlated with structural lung assessments using computed tomography (CT). A machine learning-based risk-modeling approach will be employed to create a screening tool, which will later be made available as an online tool and mobile app for external validation and clinical application.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis living in Austria.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have contraindications to study-related examinations may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to early detection and better management of lung complications in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in using machine learning for risk prediction in other medical conditions.
