What this trial studies

This observational project will enroll adult women (18–49 years) who consult the Endocrinology department at CHU de Strasbourg for suspected PCOS or are found to have PCOS during endocrine care. Participants will have standardized collection of medical history, menstrual and reproductive data, hormone measurements including anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), pelvic ultrasound morphology, and screening for metabolic risk and mood symptoms. No treatments are given as part of the protocol; data will be analyzed to identify clinical and biochemical phenotypes and how they relate to current diagnostic criteria. The aim is to reduce diagnostic delay and clarify feature clusters that could guide more personalized management in the future.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adult women aged 18 to under 50 who consult the Endocrinology department at Strasbourg University Hospital with suspected PCOS or who are found to have PCOS during evaluation.

Not a fit: People whose final diagnosis excludes PCOS, those younger than 18 or 50 and older, and those unable to attend CHU de Strasbourg appointments will not directly benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this could help clinicians diagnose PCOS earlier and tailor care to specific PCOS subtypes, potentially improving fertility and metabolic management.

How similar studies have performed: Numerous prior observational cohorts have characterized PCOS phenotypes and supported AMH and ultrasound as useful markers, so this study builds on established but still-evolving evidence.
