Database for predicting outcomes in critically ill patients
Predicting Clinical Outcomes of Critically Ill Patients in Intensive Care Units With De-identification Database
National Taiwan University Hospital · NCT04541849
This study is creating a database to see if we can better predict outcomes for critically ill patients by looking at past data on their health issues.

What this trial studies
This project involves the creation of a comprehensive database by the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) to analyze clinical outcomes of critically ill patients. The National Taiwan University Hospital has joined this international collaboration, collecting retrospective data from patients discharged between March 1, 2019, and June 30, 2022. The database will facilitate the study of various clinical issues such as delirium, sepsis, and acute kidney injury, utilizing statistical methods and machine learning techniques to predict patient outcomes. The aim is to develop predictive models tailored to specific disease subgroups within the critically ill population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are critically ill patients aged 18 years and older who have been admitted to intensive care units.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age will not benefit from this study as they are excluded from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could enhance the ability to predict clinical outcomes for critically ill patients, leading to improved patient management and care.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing similar database approaches have shown promise in improving clinical outcomes and predictive modeling in critical care settings.
