What this trial studies
This implementation trial tests the All Nations Breath of Life (ANBL) smoking cessation program across four sites, including two urban and two reservation locations. The program is designed specifically for American Indian populations and includes group-based support sessions led by trained community members. While certain core components of the program are standardized, sites have the flexibility to adapt aspects of the intervention to better fit their community needs. The trial aims to evaluate the efficacy of the program in promoting smoking cessation among participants over a six-month follow-up period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are self-identified American Indians aged 18 or older who smoke at least one cigarette per day and are planning to quit.
Not a fit: Patients who do not identify as American Indian or do not meet the smoking criteria may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve smoking cessation rates among American Indian populations.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown the efficacy of culturally tailored smoking cessation programs in reservation populations, indicating potential success in urban settings as well.
