What this trial studies

This study focuses on translating and culturally adapting the Groningen Frailty Indicator (GFI) questionnaire for Greek patients who have suffered a hip fracture. It aims to address the growing concern of frailty among the elderly, which can lead to poor health outcomes and increased healthcare demands. By following the ISPOR guidelines, the study will ensure that the GFI is both reliable and valid for the Greek population, facilitating better assessment and management of frailty in this demographic. The research will involve adult patients over 65 years old who are undergoing surgery for hip fractures.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 65 years old with hip fractures who are able to communicate and consent to participate.

Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include those with severe cognitive dysfunction or those who are institutionalized.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the identification and management of frailty in elderly hip fracture patients, leading to improved health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have successfully adapted similar assessment tools for different populations, indicating a promising approach for this adaptation.
