What this trial studies
This study aims to develop and validate the Turkish Atılım Kinesiophobia Scale, which assesses kinesiophobia, or fear of movement, in patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. The process involves creating a set of 38 questions based on a review of existing literature and expert opinions from physiotherapy professionals. A total of 100 patients will complete this new scale alongside the Tampa Scale to evaluate its effectiveness and reliability in measuring fear of movement in a Turkish context.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are young to middle-aged individuals aged 18-70 with chronic musculoskeletal pain following acute injury or surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments or those who are illiterate may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this scale could improve the identification and treatment of kinesiophobia, leading to better rehabilitation outcomes for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While existing kinesiophobia scales have been used, this specific approach to developing a Turkish version is novel and addresses limitations found in previous scales.
