What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the impact of a counseling consultation in the workplace specifically designed for health professionals who smoke. It focuses on measuring exhaled carbon monoxide levels to assess smoking habits and support cessation efforts. The study highlights the prevalence of smoking among healthcare workers and the need for targeted interventions to improve their health and, consequently, patient care. By addressing smoking in this population, the study seeks to reduce the stigma and misconceptions surrounding smoking in healthcare settings.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are health professionals aged 18 and older who smoke daily and are willing to quit.

Not a fit: Patients who smoke occasionally or exclusively use vaporizers will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve smoking cessation rates among healthcare professionals, leading to better health outcomes for both the professionals and their patients.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on smoking cessation specifically among healthcare professionals, similar interventions in other populations have shown promising results.
