Continuous monitoring of body temperature using telemedicine
Examination of a Telemedicine System for Continuous Monitoring of Body Temperature in Adults - a Pilot Study
This study is testing a new telemedicine system that continuously measures body temperature in hospitalized adults to see how well it works and if it's safe.

What this trial studies
This observational pilot study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a telemedicine system for continuous body temperature measurement in hospitalized adults. Up to 40 participants will have a temperature sensor placed in the axillary region for up to 72 hours, followed by an additional 72 hours of monitoring after device removal. The study will not involve randomization or stratification, focusing instead on direct observation of temperature variations in patients with infections or other conditions affecting body temperature. The research team will closely monitor participants for any potential side effects during the study period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include hospitalized adults aged 18 and over with infections or conditions causing temperature fluctuations.
Not a fit: Patients with high-risk health conditions or those with devices that emit electromagnetic radiation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the management of fever in hospitalized patients through real-time temperature monitoring.
How similar studies have performed: While continuous temperature monitoring is a common practice, this specific telemedicine approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in similar studies.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * A person of male or female sex * Age 18 and over * Ability to measure the patient's body temperature frequently * People who are hospitalized due to any type of infection or any other diseases that result in variations in body temperature (rise, fall) * Completed all potential diagnostics of the hospitalized patient (no interrupting the measurement of the telemedicine device) Exclusion Criteria: * Allergic to contact with plastic or silver * Anatomical anomalies that prevent the placement of the system * High-risk health conditions, intensive care and the like * A pacemaker or other device on the skin or implanted in the body that emits light electromagnetic radiation
