What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the impact of a pediatric nurse's consultation on reducing parental anxiety during a child's febrile seizure. Febrile seizures are common in children under 7 years old and can lead to significant anxiety and psychological issues for parents. The intervention involves providing parents with detailed information and support during the emergency room visit to improve their understanding and reduce anxiety. The study will compare standard care with the CONSULFE consultation approach to assess its effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult parents of children aged 1 to 5 who have experienced a febrile seizure lasting less than 15 minutes within the last 24 hours.
Not a fit: Parents who have prior experience with febrile seizures in siblings or have a child with a neurological history may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce parental anxiety and improve their understanding of febrile seizures, leading to better outcomes for both parents and children.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on similar interventions, the approach of providing targeted parental support during medical emergencies has shown promise in other contexts.
