Comparing ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injections and paraffin therapy for carpal tunnel syndrome
Comparison of the Efficacy of Ultrasound-Guided Corticosteroid Injection and Paraffin Therapy in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
This study is testing whether ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injections or paraffin therapy works better to relieve pain and improve function in people with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome.

What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of two treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome: ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injections and paraffin therapy. A total of 46 patients aged 18-65 with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome will be evaluated based on pain levels and functional impairment using standardized questionnaires and electrophysiological assessments. Follow-ups will occur at 1, 3, and 12 weeks post-treatment to measure outcomes. The goal is to determine which treatment offers better relief and functionality for patients suffering from this common condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-65 diagnosed with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome who have had symptoms for at least 3 months.
Not a fit: Patients with other neuropathic conditions or those who have previously undergone surgery or injections for carpal tunnel syndrome may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide patients with effective low-side-effect treatment options for managing carpal tunnel syndrome.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on corticosteroid injections for carpal tunnel syndrome, the comparison with paraffin therapy is less common, making this approach somewhat novel.
Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * Patients aged 18-65. * Diagnosed with mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome based on electrophysiological studies. * Received either ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injection or paraffin therapy. * Symptoms persisting for at least 3 months. Exclusion Criteria: * Diagnosis of other conditions causing neuropathic symptoms (e.g., polyneuropathy, brachial plexopathy, thoracic outlet syndrome). * History of previous injection or surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome.
