Comparing two rehabilitation programs for balance and walking in stroke patients
Effects of Motor Relearning Program Versus Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation on Balance and Gait in Stroke
NA · Foundation University Islamabad · NCT06674590

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to compare the effectiveness of a Motor Relearning Program and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) on improving balance and gait in patients who are more than six months post-stroke. Conducted at DHQ Hospital Mirpur and FF Hospital Rawalpindi, the study will involve randomized control groups receiving either intervention over a period of six weeks, with assessments using the Berg Balance Scale, 10-meter walk test, and Timed-Up-And-Go test. The outcomes will be measured at baseline and after the intervention to determine which method is more effective for enhancing mobility in chronic stroke patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 25 to 65 who are more than six months post-stroke and can ambulate at least 10 meters.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological diseases, significant orthopedic issues, or uncontrolled medical conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide stroke patients with improved rehabilitation techniques that enhance their balance and walking abilities.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success with rehabilitation techniques for stroke patients, but this specific comparison of Motor Relearning Program and PNF is relatively novel.
