Comparing two pain relief methods after gallbladder surgery
Comparison Of Modified Thoracoabdominal Nerve Block Through Perichondrial Approach and Transversus Abdominal Plane Block in Analgesia Efficacy And Recovery Quality Following Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of two analgesic techniques, the Modified Thoracoabdominal Nerve Block (M-TAPA) and the Transversus Abdominal Plane (TAP) block, for managing postoperative pain following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The research will involve patients undergoing elective gallbladder removal surgery, assessing pain relief and recovery quality. Both techniques are ultrasound-guided and aim to provide effective analgesia while potentially reducing the need for opioids. The study will compare the outcomes of these two approaches to determine which offers better pain management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients classified as ASA I-II who are scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with bleeding disorders, those on anticoagulant therapy, or individuals with allergies to local anesthetics or opioids may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing gallbladder surgery, enhancing recovery and reducing opioid use.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success with TAP blocks in various abdominal surgeries, suggesting that this approach may be effective, though the M-TAPA technique is less commonly tested.
