Comparing two methods for diagnosing malnutrition in hospitalized patients
Comparison of CIPA With the GLIM Criteria of Malnutrition and Prevalence of Sarcopenia in Inpatients

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the diagnostic quality of the CIPA tool for identifying malnutrition in inpatients with hospital stays longer than three days, compared to the established GLIM criteria. The study will involve a cross-sectional analysis of adult patients admitted to various departments, where both CIPA and GLIM assessments will be conducted after three days of hospitalization. The goal is to improve early detection of malnutrition, which is crucial for better clinical outcomes, and to assess the prevalence of sarcopenia among these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who have been hospitalized for more than three days in specific medical departments.
Not a fit: Patients with a prognosis of hospital stay of three days or less, or those admitted to departments with low malnutrition incidence, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the early detection and management of malnutrition in hospitalized patients, potentially improving their recovery and overall health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success in using different diagnostic tools for malnutrition, but this specific comparison of CIPA and GLIM is relatively novel.
