What this trial studies

This study evaluates the feasibility of using 68Ga PET/CT imaging as an alternative to the traditional 99mTc SPECT/CT for lung perfusion and ventilation scintigraphy. It aims to address the limitations of the current SPECT/CT method, particularly for patients who cannot undergo conventional imaging due to various health concerns. Participants will be adults referred for a standard V/Q SPECT/CT due to suspected pulmonary embolism. The study will assess the practicality and effectiveness of the new imaging technique in detecting pulmonary embolisms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are referred for a conventional V/Q SPECT/CT due to known or suspected pulmonary embolism.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant will not benefit from this study due to exclusion criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective and safer imaging option for patients with suspected pulmonary embolism.

How similar studies have performed: International studies have shown promise in using 68Ga for imaging, suggesting potential success for this approach.
