What this trial studies

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of hydrodissection using hyaluronic acid versus 5% dextrose in treating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The approach involves ultrasound-guided injections to evaluate the efficacy of each treatment through ultrasonographic assessment. Additionally, the study will analyze median nerve gliding results using duplex Doppler ultrasound and a cross-correlation algorithm. The goal is to determine which treatment provides better outcomes for patients suffering from CTS.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 20-80 diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, or those who have previously undergone surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could offer a more effective treatment option for patients with carpal tunnel syndrome.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of treatments in this study may be novel, similar approaches using hydrodissection have shown promise in other studies.
