What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the effects of two therapeutic techniques, Swiss Ball exercises and Frenkel exercises, on static and dynamic balance in children diagnosed with Down syndrome. The trial will involve 32 participants aged 8 to 13 years, who will be randomly assigned to one of the two exercise groups. Both interventions are designed to improve balance, coordination, and muscle strength in children with Down syndrome. Data will be collected at the Children Hospital and Institute of Child Health in Lahore, Pakistan.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 8 to 13 years diagnosed with Down syndrome who can understand instructions and have independent standing and walking abilities.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental retardation, significant heart issues, visual or hearing impairments, musculoskeletal disorders, or epilepsy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance balance and coordination in children with Down syndrome, leading to improved physical abilities and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific comparison of these two methods, similar studies have shown positive outcomes using both Swiss Ball and Frenkel exercises for improving balance in children with developmental disabilities.
