What this trial studies

The ENDO-RAS trial evaluates the safety and effectiveness of robot-assisted laparoscopy versus conventional laparoscopy for total hysterectomy in patients with deep infiltrating endometriosis and adenomyosis, without digestive tract involvement. Patients will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgical approaches after meeting specific eligibility criteria and providing informed consent. The study aims to reduce intraoperative and postoperative complications by utilizing advanced robotic technology in surgical procedures. This multicenter, randomized, controlled, and open-label study will utilize established classifications to assess the severity of endometriosis and predict potential complications.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18 and older diagnosed with deep infiltrating endometriosis and adenomyosis, without digestive tract involvement.

Not a fit: Patients with digestive tract involvement or those who only have adenomyosis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and reduced complications for patients undergoing hysterectomy for endometriosis.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with robotic-assisted surgical techniques, suggesting potential benefits in similar surgical contexts.
