What this trial studies

This study involves adult males with infertility issues related to clinical varicoceles. Participants will undergo subinguinal varicocelectomy, and those with spermatic cord lipoma found during surgery will be randomly assigned to either have the lipoma excised or preserved. The semen parameters of both groups will be evaluated at 3 and 6 months post-surgery to determine the impact of the intervention. The goal is to assess whether the excision of the lipoma affects fertility outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult males experiencing infertility due to clinical varicoceles and oligo-asthenospermia.

Not a fit: Patients with adolescent varicocele, recurrent varicocele, inguinal hernia, or azoospermia may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into optimal surgical approaches for improving male fertility.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on varicocelectomy and its effects on fertility, the specific comparison of excision versus preservation of spermatic cord lipoma is a novel approach.
