What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of Pilates exercises versus circuit exercise training on blood pressure and lipid levels in women diagnosed with gestational hypertension. Gestational hypertension is a common pregnancy complication that can lead to severe health issues for both the mother and baby if left untreated. The study aims to explore non-drug interventions, focusing on the safety and efficacy of Pilates as a potential alternative to medication. Participants will engage in either Pilates or circuit training to assess improvements in their condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women aged 25-35 with a BMI of 30-34.9 and diagnosed with gestational hypertension after 20 weeks of gestation.

Not a fit: Patients with cardiac issues, cognitive problems, poorly controlled hypertension, diabetes, inflammatory arthritis, or osteoporosis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a safe, non-pharmacological approach to managing gestational hypertension in pregnant women.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with exercise interventions for hypertension, suggesting potential success for this approach.
