Comparing PET/CT and Cardiac CT for Detecting Heart Disease
PET/CT vs. Cardiac CT for Detecting Coronary Atherosclerotic Disease
This study is testing if a new type of imaging called NaF-PET/CT can find heart disease better than the standard cardiac CT in patients showing symptoms of coronary artery disease.

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (NaF-PET/CT) in detecting coronary atherosclerotic disease compared to conventional cardiac CT methods. It will include 33 patients who exhibit symptoms suggestive of coronary artery disease and have been referred for cardiac CT testing. Participants will undergo both NaF-PET/CT and standard cardiac CT to assess the accuracy of each method in identifying coronary atherosclerosis. The study is designed as a single-center, prospective diagnostic accuracy evaluation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with stable symptoms concerning suspected coronary artery disease.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of coronary heart disease, pregnancy, atrial fibrillation, morbid obesity, or other significant medical conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early detection and prevention of coronary artery disease.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of NaF-PET/CT for detecting coronary atherosclerosis is promising, its effectiveness compared to conventional methods is still being evaluated, making this approach relatively novel.
Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * Male or female patients * 18 years or older * referred for coronary CT angiography because of suspected coronary heart disease (CHD) with stable symptoms Exclusion Criteria: * The patient has a history of coronary heart disease, defined by prior myocardial infarction or prior coronary artery revascularization. * Pregnancy. * Atrial fibrillation. * Morbid obesity defines as a body mass index of \>40. * The patient has any other clinically significant medical condition that in the opinion of the Investigator could impact the patient's ability to successfully complete the trial.
