Comparing pain responses in people with chronic low back pain and healthy individuals

Behavioral Indicators of Pain Representation

Observational Universite de Picardie Jules Verne · NCT06669767

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate how individuals with non-specific chronic low back pain respond posturally to mental simulations of painful everyday situations compared to healthy volunteers. Participants will view images of these situations while their physiological responses, including posturography, electromyography, and heart rate, are recorded. The study also seeks to determine if the postural responses are linked to levels of kinesiophobia, which is the fear of movement due to pain. By analyzing these responses, the study hopes to shed light on the behavioral indicators of pain representation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 55 who have been experiencing non-specific chronic low back pain.

Not a fit: Patients with low back pain lasting less than 3 months or those with significant neurological or cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of pain mechanisms and improve management strategies for chronic low back pain.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is relatively novel, similar studies have explored pain responses, indicating potential for valuable insights.
