Comparing MR Enterography and Ultrasound for Assessing Crohn's Disease Treatment Response
Diagnostic Concordance of MR Enterography and Ultrasound for Treatment Response Assessment in Crohn's Disease (MANTRA): a Multicentre, Non-randomised, Multiple-arm, Prospective Cohort Comparison Study
This study is testing whether MR Enterography or Intestinal Ultrasound is better at showing how well treatment is working for people with Crohn's disease who are 16 and older.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the diagnostic concordance between MR Enterography (MRE) and Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS) in assessing treatment response in patients with Crohn's disease. It focuses on patients aged 16 and older who have undergone baseline imaging and require follow-up imaging to determine the effectiveness of their treatment. The study seeks to address the variability in imaging modality selection and provide clearer guidance on the use of MRE and IUS for treatment assessment. By comparing these two non-invasive imaging techniques, the study hopes to improve patient management and reduce reliance on more invasive procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 16 and older with small bowel or colonic Crohn's disease who have already undergone baseline imaging.
Not a fit: Patients who have had surgical resection of affected bowel segments or those unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate and patient-preferred methods for assessing treatment response in Crohn's disease.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited literature on this specific comparison, previous studies have shown both MRE and IUS to be effective for diagnosing Crohn's disease, indicating potential for success in this approach.
