What this trial studies
This observational study compares the effectiveness of white light endoscopy and magnifying endoscopy in determining the status of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection. It involves a cross-sectional analysis of patients who have undergone both types of endoscopic examinations and have completed carbon-13 or carbon-14 breath tests. The study aims to summarize the advantages and disadvantages of each method to enhance the accuracy of Hp infection status assessments. Participants will be retrospectively enrolled from a specific time frame at the Endoscopy Center of the First Hospital of Jilin University.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals who have undergone endoscopic examinations and carbon-13 or carbon-14 breath tests for Helicobacter pylori infection.
Not a fit: Patients with total gastric atrophy or endoscopic type A gastritis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the accuracy of diagnosing Helicobacter pylori infections, leading to better treatment outcomes for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success with different endoscopic techniques for assessing Hp infection, but this specific comparative approach is relatively novel.
