What this trial studies
This trial investigates the feasibility of a digital triage system compared to traditional telephone triage in primary care settings. Patients will be randomly assigned to either a digital platform for symptom assessment or to receive triage via telephone. The study aims to evaluate adherence to the recommended level of care based on the triage method used. Conducted in collaboration with ten regions in Sweden, the trial will involve 120 patients to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of digital versus telephone triage.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are registered at the participating health center and can communicate in Swedish.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old, those who cannot communicate in Swedish, or individuals without mobile Bank identification will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance access to primary care and improve patient outcomes through more efficient triage processes.
How similar studies have performed: While digital triage has been implemented in various settings, this specific approach comparing digital and telephone triage in a clinical real-world setting is novel and has not been extensively tested.
