Comparing defocus-enhanced and single vision spectacles for myopia control in children
Comparative Study of Visual Function Training With Defocus-Enhanced Spectacles vs. Single Vision Spectacles on Myopia Control in Children
NA · Beijing Visionly Plus Eye Hospital · NCT06821074
This study tests whether special glasses that blur the vision a little can help kids aged 6 to 18 with myopia control their eyesight better than regular glasses.

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of vision function training using defocus-enhanced spectacles compared to single vision spectacles in managing myopia progression in children aged 6 to 18 years. Participants will undergo vision function training while wearing either type of spectacles to determine which is more effective in controlling myopia. The study will include children diagnosed with myopia within specific refractive error ranges and will exclude those with certain eye diseases or genetic syndromes. The goal is to provide insights into better management strategies for myopia in the pediatric population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6 to 18 years with diagnosed myopia and specific refractive error criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with significant eye diseases or those with a history of minimal myopia progression may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved methods for controlling myopia progression in children, potentially reducing the risk of severe vision problems later in life.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on myopia control, the specific comparison of defocus-enhanced spectacles versus single vision spectacles in this context is relatively novel.
