What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the renoprotective effects of Dapagliflozin compared to Pentoxifylline in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 2 and 3. The study aims to evaluate how these medications impact kidney function, particularly focusing on glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and the progression of renal complications. By utilizing a phase 3 interventional approach, the trial will assess the efficacy and safety of these treatments in slowing kidney function decline. Participants will receive either Dapagliflozin or Pentoxifylline to determine which medication offers better protection against kidney damage.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with chronic kidney disease stages 2 and 3 who do not have diabetes.

Not a fit: Patients with diabetes mellitus or those with a history of recurrent genitourinary infections may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new treatment option that significantly slows the progression of chronic kidney disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with SGLT2 inhibitors in managing kidney disease, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
