Comparing comfort of anesthesia-free tonometer tips for glaucoma testing
Tolerability of an Anesthesia-free Tonometer Tip

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the tolerability and comfort of three different prototype anesthesia-free tonometer tips compared to the standard tonometer tip that requires anesthesia. Participants will undergo routine eye exams where their responses to the different tonometer tips will be assessed. The goal is to identify the most comfortable prototype for further development, potentially leading to home tonometry options for glaucoma patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are presenting for a routine eye exam and can provide consent.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of corneal scarring, active eye infections, or previous corneal surgeries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to a more comfortable and accessible method for glaucoma monitoring at home.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of anesthesia-free tonometry is novel, similar studies have explored comfort in tonometry methods, indicating potential for success.
