What this trial studies

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of cold snare endoscopic mucosal resection (C-EMR) and hot snare endoscopic mucosal resection (H-EMR) for the removal of non-pedunculated colorectal polyps sized between 10-20 mm. A total of 330 participants will be randomly assigned to either intervention group, where experienced endoscopists will perform the procedures under sedation. The study will assess complete resection rates and any adverse events following the procedures, utilizing techniques such as saline and blue dye injection and narrow band imaging for inspection post-polypectomy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with colorectal polyps measuring between 10-20 mm.

Not a fit: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease, familial polyposis syndromes, or severe coagulopathy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved techniques for the safe and effective removal of large colorectal polyps, potentially reducing complications and improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success with both cold and hot snare techniques, but this specific comparison is novel.
