What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Schroth exercises conducted in clinical settings versus those performed at home for adolescents diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis. Participants aged 10-18 with Cobb angles between 20-45 degrees will be assessed using various tests to measure proprioception, dynamic balance, and cosmetic perception of deformity. The study will involve 30 participants who will undergo both exercise interventions while their progress is monitored through specific evaluations. The goal is to determine which approach yields better outcomes in managing scoliosis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adolescents aged 10-18 diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and a Cobb angle between 20-45 degrees.

Not a fit: Patients with other types of scoliosis, those who have undergone spine surgery, or those unable to comply with prescribed brace use may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into more effective treatment options for managing adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

How similar studies have performed: While there are limited studies on the combined treatment of brace use and Schroth exercises, this approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
