Comparing blood biomarkers for lung cancer diagnosis

A Retrospective Study to Compare Biomarker Expression of Exosomes Derived From Peripheral Blood and Primary Lung Cancer Drainage Pulmonary Blood in Lung Cancer Patients

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to compare various biomarkers found in peripheral blood and pulmonary venous blood of patients diagnosed with lung cancer. By analyzing blood samples, the study seeks to identify less invasive and more repeatable diagnostic methods compared to traditional tissue biopsies. The focus is on evaluating cancer markers and exosome markers to improve early diagnosis and prognosis of lung cancer. The study will utilize frozen blood plasma samples collected from patients who have undergone surgery for lung cancer.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Korean adults who have not received neoadjuvant therapy and have no prior cancer diagnoses.

Not a fit: Patients who have received neoadjuvant therapy or have been diagnosed with other cancers may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accessible and less invasive diagnostic methods for lung cancer, improving early detection and patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using liquid biopsies for cancer diagnosis, indicating that this approach may be effective.
