What this trial studies

This study examines the acute effects of active video games versus traditional exercise on patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. A minimum of 20 volunteers will participate in sessions that last 20 minutes, with measurements taken for heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and perceived exertion before and after each session. The study aims to assess energy expenditure and enjoyment levels associated with both exercise modalities. Participants will be randomly assigned to either intervention, with a break of at least one day between sessions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension who are clinically stable and willing to participate.

Not a fit: Patients with unstable angina, severe neurological or pulmonary diseases, or those who have recently received physiotherapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a novel and enjoyable way for patients with pulmonary hypertension to engage in physical activity, potentially improving their overall health and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on exercise programs for pulmonary disease, the specific comparison of active video games to traditional exercise in this context is relatively novel.
