What this trial studies

This study examines the impact of community-provided psychosocial support videos on the attitudes and symptoms of pediatric oncology patients aged 10-18 who have been newly diagnosed with cancer. The research aims to address the emotional challenges faced by these patients during their treatment, particularly in the context of their developmental stage. By utilizing videos as a form of support, the study seeks to enhance coping mechanisms and provide encouragement during a critical time in their lives. Participants will be monitored for changes in their disease attitudes and symptoms over the course of the intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Turkish-speaking children aged 10-18 who have been newly diagnosed with cancer and are currently undergoing active treatment.

Not a fit: Patients who are in the terminal phase of their illness or experiencing severe pain may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the emotional well-being and coping strategies of pediatric cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: While psychosocial support has been studied in various contexts, this specific approach using community-provided videos in pediatric oncology is novel and has not been extensively tested.
