What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a combined program that integrates Mindfulness relaxation techniques with Buteyko respiratory rehabilitation for patients suffering from poorly controlled asthma and associated anxiety or stress. Participants will undergo 10 sessions, consisting of 5 face-to-face and 5 telematic sessions, over a period of time. The study will assess improvements in asthma control and future risk through various measures, including pulmonary function tests and questionnaires administered at multiple follow-up points.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals diagnosed with poorly controlled asthma who are currently on a combination of inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting beta-agonists, and who also experience anxiety or functional dyspnea.

Not a fit: Patients with severe asthma exacerbations, severe comorbidities, or severe psychiatric illnesses may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve asthma control and reduce anxiety for patients with poorly managed asthma.

How similar studies have performed: While the combination of mindfulness and Buteyko techniques is a novel approach, similar studies focusing on mindfulness for asthma management have shown promising results.
