What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of a novel iPad app that delivers 40Hz light therapy combined with cognitive therapy on patients with Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment. The approach is based on recent findings that exposure to flickering light can enhance gamma brainwave activity, potentially aiding in the clearance of beta amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimer's. Participants will engage in daily sessions of light therapy and cognitive exercises to assess improvements in cognition, function, and overall quality of life. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this combined intervention in a real-world setting.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of epileptic seizures or significant eye diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve cognitive function and quality of life for patients with Alzheimer's disease.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with similar light therapy approaches, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
Eligibility criteria
