What this trial studies
The Colorado Community Engagement Alliance partners the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus with community organizations and trusted local messengers to co-develop culturally relevant messages and interventions addressing chronic disease and mental health. Using the Transcreational Framework, Group Model Building, and Boot Camp/Community Translation processes, teams work with five urban and rural Colorado communities to identify priority issues and leverage points. Activities include participatory meetings, message transcreation, capacity building among community members, and dissemination across multiple mediums. The project is observational and focuses on strengthening community–university partnerships and sustainable local approaches to improve research participation and health behaviors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18 to 90 who identify as Black/African American, East African, Latina/o/x/Hispanic, or American Indian/Alaska Native and who live in the participating Colorado regions are the intended participants.
Not a fit: People under 18, over 90, those who do not identify with the listed racial/ethnic groups, or those who do not live in the participating Colorado regions are not eligible and are unlikely to benefit directly from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could increase culturally relevant outreach and research participation and improve prevention and self-management support for chronic disease and mental health in targeted communities.
How similar studies have performed: Prior community-based participatory approaches and Boot Camp Translation efforts have shown improved message relevance and uptake in some communities, though outcomes vary by context and scale.
