What this trial studies
This observational study recruits patients during their regular skin examinations at Hospital Clinic Barcelona to gather data for developing artificial intelligence algorithms aimed at improving skin cancer detection. Participants will undergo 3D total body photography, complete a questionnaire about their health and skin history, and provide a genetic sample. The study focuses on using de-identified images and information to enhance melanoma-risk profiling and skin lesion analysis. The goal is to leverage this data to create better tools for early detection of skin cancer.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 who are able to provide informed consent and participate in skin examinations.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to stand and hold an anatomical pose for the 3D photography will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved early detection and risk assessment for skin cancer, particularly melanoma.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing AI for skin cancer detection have shown promising results, indicating that this approach has potential for success.
