Collaboration to create a multi-modality image database for atherosclerosis
Massachusetts General Hospital and Tsuchiura Kyodo General Hospital Coronary Imaging Collaboration

What this trial studies
This collaboration aims to establish a comprehensive image database that includes coronary angiograms, optical coherence tomography (OCT), computed tomography angiograms (CTA), and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) to enhance the understanding of atherosclerosis. Approximately one thousand patients who underwent coronary angiography with OCT and had a CTA prior to catheterization at Tsuchiura Kyodo General Hospital will be included in this observational study. The collected images will be analyzed to promote insights into the pathobiology of atherosclerosis, paving the way for future research.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who have undergone CTA prior to cardiac catheterization and OCT during catheterization.
Not a fit: Patients who have not had both CTA and OCT procedures will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could lead to improved diagnostic and treatment strategies for patients with atherosclerosis.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is collaborative and utilizes established imaging techniques, the specific combination and focus on atherosclerosis may offer novel insights, though similar studies have shown promise in the past.
