What this trial studies
This study investigates the feasibility and effectiveness of combining cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with personalized physical activity plans and the use of Fitbit Versa 3® activity trackers to aid smoking cessation. A total of 128 adult smokers will be randomly assigned to receive either the full intervention or a version without the activity tracker. The study aims to assess how these interventions can improve smoking cessation rates and overall physical activity levels. Data will be analyzed using various statistical software to evaluate the outcomes of the interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and over who smoke at least 10 cigarettes per day.
Not a fit: Patients currently receiving other treatments for smoking cessation or those with severe psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance smoking cessation efforts by integrating physical activity into treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using activity trackers to increase physical activity, but this specific combination of CBT and activity tracking for smoking cessation is relatively novel.
