What this trial studies

This study involves patients who have received gamma knife radiosurgery for vestibular schwannoma and are experiencing hearing loss. Participants will undergo extensive audiometric testing and preoperative and intraoperative electrically evoked auditory brainstem response (eABR) measurements. The study aims to correlate these eABR results with postoperative hearing outcomes following cochlear implantation. The findings will help assess the feasibility and effectiveness of cochlear implants in this patient population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who have had radiosurgery for vestibular schwannoma and are seeking cochlear implantation for hearing restoration.

Not a fit: Patients who do not wish to participate in the study will not benefit from its findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve hearing rehabilitation options for patients with vestibular schwannoma who have undergone radiosurgery.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be related studies, this specific approach combining eABR with cochlear implantation post-radiosurgery is relatively novel.
