What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of cervical kinesio taping on migraine symptoms in patients diagnosed with migraine without aura. It focuses on individuals who also experience neck pain, which is common in migraine attacks and contributes to increased disability. Participants will receive kinesio taping applied to cervical trigger points, alongside exercise and sham taping as control interventions. The goal is to assess whether this method can reduce migraine frequency and severity, leveraging the benefits of kinesio taping in alleviating myofascial pain.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-65 with a diagnosis of migraine without aura and cervical myofascial trigger points.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of neck trauma, cervical radiculopathy, or those who have undergone cervical surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a non-invasive treatment option for migraine sufferers, potentially reducing the frequency and severity of their attacks.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with kinesio taping in managing myofascial pain, suggesting potential for success in this novel application for migraine treatment.
