What this trial studies
This pilot program aims to implement a culturally adapted psychoeducational training called Parents Taking Action for family caregivers of young children with autism in Paraguay. The intervention consists of 10 weekly remote sessions conducted via telehealth, where caregivers will learn about autism and strategies to support their child's development. The sessions will be facilitated by Paraguayan trained parents of autistic individuals, ensuring cultural relevance and language accessibility. The study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention, as well as measure improvements in caregiver knowledge and confidence before and after the program.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this program are primary caregivers of children aged 2 to 8 years with a diagnosis of autism who reside in Paraguay.
Not a fit: Patients who do not speak Spanish or lack internet access may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could empower caregivers with essential knowledge and skills to better support their children with autism.
How similar studies have performed: While similar caregiver training interventions have shown promise in other contexts, this specific adaptation for Paraguay is novel and untested.
