What this trial studies
This initiative aims to create an infrastructure that supports the development of mobile health (mHealth) interventions specifically designed for cancer patients who smoke. By addressing the unique tobacco treatment needs of this population, the project seeks to enhance the effectiveness of smoking cessation efforts. The infrastructure will be accessible to researchers across Florida, thereby expanding the reach and impact of mHealth solutions in combating smoking among cancer patients. The study will utilize interventions such as Quitline Treatment and app-based treatments to facilitate smoking cessation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this initiative are cancer patients aged 18 and older who have a history of smoking and own a working smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding will not benefit from this initiative.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve smoking cessation rates among cancer patients, leading to better treatment outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While mobile health interventions for smoking cessation have shown promise in other populations, this specific approach targeting cancer patients is relatively novel.
