What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of the 4-7-8 breathing technique combined with standard management on patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It aims to assess improvements in dyspnea, pulmonary function, and quality of life compared to standard management alone. Participants will include adults aged 40-64 with mild to moderate COPD, who will be monitored for changes in their respiratory symptoms and overall well-being. The study emphasizes the importance of breathing exercises as a complementary approach to traditional COPD treatments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 40-64 with mild to moderate COPD and a Modified MRC dyspnea scale grade of 1-3.
Not a fit: Patients with severe COPD, acute exacerbations, or those unable to follow instructions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the quality of life and respiratory function for COPD patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with breathing techniques in managing COPD symptoms, suggesting potential success for this approach.
