What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a Shitali respiratory rehabilitation program for patients with obstructive sleep apnea. A total of 40 participants will be divided into two groups, with one group receiving six cycles of 5-minute Shitali pranayama exercises three times daily for 12 weeks, while the other group will serve as a control. The aim is to assess improvements in sleep quality, blood pressure, and respiratory function. The study seeks to provide a non-invasive intervention for managing obstructive sleep apnea symptoms.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are non-obese individuals diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.

Not a fit: Patients with cardiac, metabolic, or kidney diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could improve sleep quality and overall health for patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific Shitali pranayama approach, similar respiratory rehabilitation methods have shown promise in managing sleep apnea symptoms.
