What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of breathing exercises on pain, anxiety, dyspnea, and insomnia in patients who have undergone lung surgery, specifically video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or wedge resection. The research aims to assess how non-pharmacological interventions can enhance postoperative recovery and quality of life by alleviating common complications associated with lung surgery. Participants will engage in structured breathing exercises to evaluate their effectiveness in managing symptoms and improving overall well-being.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals who have recently undergone VATS or wedge resection surgery and are able to communicate effectively.

Not a fit: Patients with mental health issues that hinder communication or those with nasal pathologies may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve recovery outcomes and quality of life for patients undergoing lung surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that breathing exercises can effectively reduce anxiety and pain in postoperative patients, indicating a promising approach.
