What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBAT) on patients with fibromyalgia compared to a control group receiving stretching exercises. Participants will attend 90-minute sessions of BBAT twice a week for 12 weeks, with assessments of biomarkers, neurotransmitters, and various psychological scales conducted at multiple time points. The study aims to determine whether BBAT can lead to greater improvements in pain, psychological state, and quality of life than stretching alone.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia for at least six months who can assume various positions during therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with other conditions that exacerbate pain, pregnant individuals, or those with serious comorbidities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this therapy could significantly improve pain management and overall quality of life for fibromyalgia patients.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific application of BBAT in fibromyalgia is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
