What this trial studies
Body Acceptance After Baby (BABI) delivers acceptance-based skills in a single online session aimed at reducing body dissatisfaction among postpartum women. Participants are randomized to BABI, a brief postpartum body image infographic, or a waitlist control. Outcomes are collected via self-report measures before the session, immediately after, and at follow-up to track changes in body dissatisfaction and coping. The trial enrolls English-speaking women in the U.S. who gave birth to a live infant within the past year and report some dissatisfaction with their appearance.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are English-speaking women aged 18 or older, living in the U.S., who gave birth to a live infant within the past year and report some dissatisfaction with their appearance.
Not a fit: People who do not report body dissatisfaction, cannot read English, live outside the U.S., or have severe untreated psychiatric conditions may be unlikely to benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could reduce body dissatisfaction and give new mothers practical coping skills through a brief, widely accessible online session.
How similar studies have performed: Acceptance and commitment therapy and other brief online interventions have shown promise for body image and mood outcomes, but single-session ACT specifically for postpartum body dissatisfaction is relatively novel.
