What this trial studies

Patients with partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears who undergo ACL augmentation at Assiut University Hospital will receive clinical follow-up focused on knee function. Outcomes are measured mainly with the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, with follow-up visits to document recovery and any complications. The trial includes patients aged 15–50, with or without meniscal tear or knee deformity, and accepts recent and chronic injuries but excludes complete ACL tears and multiligament injuries. Early results will describe functional outcomes and safety signals after the augmentation procedure.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are people aged 15–50 with a confirmed partial ACL tear and no other ligament injuries, regardless of meniscal tear or knee deformity status.

Not a fit: Patients with a complete ACL tear, multiple ligament injuries, or a prior failed ACL reconstruction are unlikely to benefit from ACL augmentation in this protocol.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could improve knee stability and function and help patients return to activities with less pain.

How similar studies have performed: Surgical series and small trials of ACL augmentation for partial tears have reported promising functional outcomes, but the evidence is still limited and early.
